On the corner of Moskovsky Prospekt and the Fontanka embankment, a small establishment with twenty seats was opened - the Character Coffee coffeehouse. Despite the fact that the owners had not previously been involved in the restaurant business (Konstantin Tokarev had been working in construction all his life, and his wife, Angela, worked in the Committee on Road Facilities of the Leningrad Region), they are distinguished by a scrupulous approach to business. They make coffee only freshly roasted, and they collaborate immediately with several roasters in St. Petersburg and Tver, constantly try new varieties and use almost all possible methods of alternative brewing, including the laborious cold extraction method.
Konstantin and Angela spent a month preparing for the opening - during this time they themselves made repairs in the coffee shop and were trained in the use of an espresso machine (they mastered the alternative methods themselves, since they had been fond of this topic for a long time). Classical cappuccino, hot and cold latte, as well as Flat White - a drink based on double espresso with whipped milk (reminds cappuccino, but twice as strong) are made on the basis of espresso in Character Coffee. All coffee-based drinks will cost no more than 150 rubles, and for a glass of espresso they ask for only 42 rubles.

In addition to coffee, there are several varieties of Chinese tea and branded hot drinks with fruits, berries and spices: sea buckthorn-ginger, apple with cinnamon or currant, as well as organic cocoa with cayenne pepper, which does not lose taste despite the lack of sugar. For each drink in the coffee shop they offer a small compliment - meringue, cookies or homemade marshmallows.
Since the owners of the coffee house, in addition to coffee, are also fond of healthy nutrition, the menu contains several positions for its followers. These are blueberry and strawberry-mint smoothies and cold-pressed juices from various combinations of fruits and vegetables - spinach, celery, cucumber, beets and ginger. The coffee shop know-how is a drink called “freshesso” based on juice, ginger and spices, which, according to the idea, should invigorate no worse than espresso.
It seemed that there was an office on the site of our coffee house, and six months ago pillows were sold here. There were purple walls and a pink ceiling, and a month passed from the moment we started the renovation until the opening. We quickly got excited about the idea and worked in two shifts with friends. Since we are not designers, we decided a lot in the course of the play. We made some of the furniture ourselves: the bar counter was cast from concrete and finished with wood, the countertops were made of solid oak, which we found in a store selling some kind of wooden panels (they had this marriage), Kostya made lamps from the fittings that they bought in the building . I found the card file in the library through my friends - it was written off from some factory. Over time, I want to create an archive in it with all the varieties of coffee that we prepared.
