Yesterday, Roszdravnadzor banned the sale of condoms of the British brand Durex in Russia. The reason was that the products did not pass the tests and registration in Russia. Today, representatives of the agency explained that the British Reckitt Benckiser Healthcare (UK) Ltd has submitted documents for the registration of DurexR Real Feel Condoms from Synthetic Latex and DurexR Condoms with anesthetic, as well as for amendments to the registration certificate for Durex Condoms (here the name, address, place of production has changed and the type of medical device has been clarified).
After completing the registration procedure, products can be returned to store shelves. In the meantime, all Durex condoms have been removed from sale - they can not be purchased either in retail stores or online, says Alexei Gayday, general director of the Tochka Lyubvi chain of stores and the Internet hypermarket Condom-Shop.Ru. In his opinion, demand will be redistributed between other brands - Contex, Vizit, Masculan, Okamoto, Sagami. "We contacted a company representative last week. There was a recommendation to remove the goods from the windows for two weeks. The manufacturer promised to solve the problem within three weeks," says Gaidai. He keeps the remaining goods; if after three weeks the certification issue is not resolved, the company will return.
According to him, the market in Russia is much more concentrated: in the West, many other brands that are not represented here are sold, and there is no clear sales leader. Life around found out which condoms Russians buy.
